June Book Review

Image
In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea. At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant: the cabins are plush, the dinner parties are sparkling, and the guests are elegant. But as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the deck, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong… It took me a little while to get into this book, bu...

Life Lately

Image
I haven't been on here much, but I wanted to catch up a little and share a fun day trip I had. Last weekend my friend Bailey and I took a day trip to Slidell and New Orleans, La. I wanted to stay in NOLA sooo bad, I just love that city! Saturday morning we got up early and headed to Slidell for a swamp tour! This should be on your bucket list if you are passing through Louisiana or if your close by and want something fun to take your kids to!   fish camps are all along the river and they aren't accessible by vehicle, only by boat! when we turned the boat off alligators would surround the boat waiting on a marshmallow or hotdog.   we saw several wild hogs and raccoons that love to eat marshmallows as well!   The tour last 1 1/2 hours and after that we headed to New Orleans for lunch. We ate at Acme Oyster House on Bourbon Street. I had chargrilled oysters, half a shrimp poboy, and oyster rockefeller soup (ahhmazing). After lunch we walk...

Weekending

I enjoyed a really low key weekend with my girls, which is just what I need before they go to their dad's for two weeks :( Friday night we enjoyed chips, cheese dip, and pizza at my mom's house. Bk wanted to spend the night with her, so it was just Ryleigh and me. Ryleigh painted my nails, then we played a few games, and called it an early night. Saturday morning I went grocery shopping. That afternoon we went to Ryleigh's rodeo. my girl with her winnings from the day!   Sunday we went to church, then ate lunch at my mom's. quick church picture! Sunday afternoon I took the girls to the creek since they will miss Memorial day at the creek, which is a big weekend! We managed to get to the creek and swim for a few minutes before a ton of bad weather blew through! Talk about a cold and wet ride home.   I am hoping for a good week and I hope everyone else has one too! linking up with Biana

I have been struggling lately. Struggling with my weight, my attitude, my children, but most importantly with my faithfulness in the Lord. I have been quick to talk to God when I am feeling down and like my life isn't going right. It's the days when things are going good that I tend to forget to talk to him and thank him for my blessings. I kind of gave myself a pep talk last night about being a more positive person, and learning to love myself more. I can't give my girls 100% of myself if I am not taking care of myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I am hoping that I can make a lifestyle change that will positively impact me, my kids, and others. With that being said, let's see how my weekend went.   Friday night we went to Vicksburg to eat at Rusty's Riverfront Grill. I didn't get a picture of my pasta but it was amazing!   Saturday I didn't snap any pictures but it was a low key day. Bailey and I rode the creek for a couple of hou...

Show & Tell Tuesday: Prom

Image
Linking up with Andrea  and Whitney  for today's topic.... PROM! I am a little embarrassed to put pictures up from my proms but I am excited to see everyone's photos from their prom.   I went to 4 different proms between 2005-2008, but unfortunately I can only find photos from my senior prom and Ramsey's senior prom.   My senior prom 2007 Looking back on these pictures, I'm literally asking myself, "what were you thinking?" I went to prom with a boyfriend and a group of my best girl friends.   "post prom photo"   Ramsey's senior prom 2008 Funny prom story. Ramsey and I rode with a group of his friends to prom in a limo they rented. Instead of going somewhere fancy to eat, like most people do for prom. We all went 45 minutes to Hammond, La to eat at Raising Canes. Can you imagine seeing a limo pull up and a group of guys and girls decked out for prom go in to the local RC for supper? Yeah I was su...

Weight Loss

Image
It has been one month since I had to go to the hospital for some minor health problems. Since that visit I decided it was time to get healthy. Not only to make myself feel better, but also for my girls. A month ago I was also at my highest weight I have ever been (not pregnant), and none of my clothes fit me anymore. I can't get to a gym every day but I have made myself start walking 1-2 miles almost every day, along with changing my eating habits. I have a long ways to go, but I am determined to meet my goal and to try and keep the weight off. When I started this "journey" I weighed 175. I haven't made drastic changes to my lifestyle, but I have made improvements. I have pretty much cut out all alcohol, I drink only water, on a few occasions I've had tea or a diet dr pepper. I have tried to cut out fast food, I have been eating salad and sweet potatoes for lunch every day for the past two weeks, I have been baking turkey burgers and veggies, I have tried ...

What's Up Wednesday No.4

Image
Wow where has this month went? I cannot believe we are a few days away from April! Sharing what we have been up to lately :)   What we're eating this week. Cinnamon and raisin bagels for breakfast Sweet potatoes and salads for lunch Monday-Fajitas, Tuesday-Turkey burgers w/squash and zucchini, Wednesday-Italian chicken w/green beans and red potatoes, Thursday and Friday not sure yet.   What I'm reminiscing about. Nothing really just looking forward to summer time.   What I'm loving. Rodan and Fields sunless tanner is getting all of the heart eyes from me lately. I am extremely pale and I do not tan at all but this has helped me have a little "tan/glow"   What we've been up to. This is going to get kind of long with lots of pictures since I haven't posted since Friday, and a lot has happened. Friday night my granny sue hit a pine tree head on around 9:00. She had traumatic injuries and was taken by ambulance to th...
